Education History and Achievements/Awards

I've attended South Lyon Schools my entire life; I went to Salem Elementary School, Millennium Middle School, and South Lyon East High School. In terms of academics, my time at these schools has really allowed me to flourish as a student. I've maintained straight A's every year since sixth grade, and have received multiple academic awards, including the Principal's List and Honor Roll awards every year since sixth grade.

Science Classes

Also, my time at South Lyon East High School has helped me discover my love for science, specifically biology. I took biology my freshman year and AP biology my senior year, and I absolutely loved both of these classes. Not only did the information come easy to me, but I was also really interested in the material we were learning and excited to go to class everyday. Because of my love for this subject, I plan to major in Biology and pursue a career as a physician assistant. Also, I've taken other science classes that have helped develop my passion for the subject, including analytical chemistry, physics, psychology, oceanography, and environmental studies.

Additional Courses

Apart from science classes, I've also taken other classes that I believe have really shaped me into the student I am today. For example, I've taken four years of Chinese, AP Statistics, British Literature, Desktop Publishing, and MS User 1. Although I am not totally fluent, I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the Chinese language and culture, which could be beneficial for work in the future. My AP Statistics class has really improved my math skills, and I think it will definitely help me for any charting/statistical analysis I have to do in the future at work. Also, my British Literature class (in addition to my other English classes) has helped me develop a love for reading and writing, as well as helped me become very skilled at punctuation and grammar. Additionally, Desktop Publishing and MS User 1 have taught me a wide variety of skills involving computers and editing, which would be very helpful if any computer work needed to be done at my future job.

Sample Work

This project was for my Reading and Writing for the College Bound class that I took my senior year. I had to analyze a stereotype that was present in the media, and include information like the history, specific examples from the media, surveys and data, and predictions for the future.

This project was for my Chinese 4 class that I took my junior year. I had to choose from a list of topics relating to Chinese culture, and I decided to research the common celebrations and entertainment that occur in China.

This story was for my AP Biology class that I took my senior year. For this project, I had to find a creative way to describe the process of photosynthesis, and my group and I decided to write a Christmas-themed children's book.

This essay was for my British Literature class that I took my junior year. I had to pick a British author and analyze his/her writing style and biography, as well as two pieces of work that they had written. I chose to do my paper on Roald Dahl.

This essay was for my English 10 class that I took sophomore year. I had to choose a topic that I had a strong opinion about, and persuade readers to support my claim. I decided to write about SeaWorld, and how its orcas should be taken out of captivity and placed in helpful sea sanctuaries.
