Outside of School

Cross Country
Although school can be very time consuming, I have still found the time to participate in activities outside of school. During my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I ran cross country. Even though running may not sound like a lot of fun, these two years were some of the best years of my life. My team was like a family to me, and I saw myself overcome physical and mental obstacles that I never imagined I would have to face.
Lacrosse
Also, I played lacrosse my sophomore and junior year of high school, and I was JV captain my junior year. During the off-season, I continued to play lacrosse at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Michigan. I was a little uneasy about playing lacrosse before I joined the team since I never saw myself as an "aggressive" person before, but once I got into it, I completely fell in love with the sport. Not only did I see myself develop into a stronger, braver person, but I also made memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Volunteer Work
Apart from sports, I also like to volunteer at my local church. I go to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in South Lyon, Michigan, and I am a devout Catholic. My mom is very involved at the church, and she's actually the one who introduced me to doing volunteer work there. Over the years, I have participated in multiple charity fundraisers, such as the Car Boot Sale to benefit St. Dominic's Outreach Program, the Easter Basket Collection to benefit the Jail Outreach Ministry, the Charity Ball Raffle to also benefit St. Dominic's Outreach Program, and the Cookie Sale to benefit The St. Louis Center. These volunteer opportunities allow me to give back to my community and those less fortunate without having to be apart of something huge and "fancy"; all I do is show up, and I leave feeling like I might have actually made a positive difference in someone's life.
